The large complex of exhibition halls and outdoor exhibits covers all forms of transportation, as well as communication and tourism. Rail vehicles and locomotives as well as models and real examples of ships, aero planes, helicopters, rockets and automobiles trace the development of transport from its beginnings, especially in its mechanized forms. An entire exhibition explains the construction of the Gotthard railway tunnel. A 3D film theatre replaces the previous IMAX cinema with the largest screen in Switzerland, and a planetarium with 5 projectors also offers daily screenings to admire the starry sky. Also, to be found in the Museum of Transport is the museum of the Swiss artist, Hans Erni, who died in 2015.
